****Take BART over to any of the Berkeley/Oakland stops and do a nice bike ride
up along Skyline and head over The Hills Swim & Tennis Club and get your
swim lesson!

Description: My goal is simple: I want to get you swimming faster and more efficiently! I will teach you my philosophy on how to swim freestyle and I will supply you with sufficient reasons why it is done this way. We will go over: front quadrant swimming, breathing, shoulder rotation, recovery & the timing of the stroke, catch, mid-stroke, finish, 2 beat kick & race strategy. I will also go over spotting, visualization, pre-race jitters and show you how to have a safe start.
If by chance you are sick or you cannot attend the scheduled class, you may find someone to take your place. There are no refunds or make-up sessions for classes missed.

About the Instructor:
For 2 years
Bjørn Holtan was the assistant swim coach for San
Francisco State University and has 15 years of coaching experience.
His background includes coaching high school, club & masters teams
and has coached top athletes who have competed both at the State and
National levels in California and Wisconsin. He works from a variety
of different angles (psychological, injury prevention, maximizing efficiency & working
with nutrition) in getting an athlete to his/her peak performance. He
swam for the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and he was voted by the
team the “Most Valuable Swimmer.” He was also the Conference
Champion in the 200 yd. butterfly and took third 100 yd. Butterfly.
He also took 3rd over all in the Alcatraz Sharkfest Swim (1st in his
age group) I addition, he took 1st place in his age group in the Lake
Mendota triathlon (WI).
Bjørn is also a Certified Meridian Resistance Flexibility & Strength
Trainer and is part of The Meridian Resistance Flexibility & Strength
Training (MRFST) Elite Team. He has been practicing MRFST and putting
on workshops for the past 5 years.
